An activity is any part of a lesson which involves students purposefully working towards a course goal. Singing a song, playing a game or having a discussion are all examples of teaching activities. An activity may involve one or several stages in a lesson plan. Activity can be contrasted with the word “task” which is applied more specifically. As such tasks can generally be considered as activities, though not all activities will be tasks.
